Director of Catering
The Providence Biltmore is currently accepting applications for a Director of Catering. This position is responsible for coordinating, supervising and directing all aspects of the Catering and Banquet departments, while maintaining a profitable operation and ensuring quality products and service levels are adheared to. The Director of Catering is expected to maximize revenues and exceed budgeted revenues and to develop and implement strategies to increase the business. S/he must act as a liaison between client and operating departments to ensure a successful meeting and to generate repeat business. The desired candidate will be experienced in the wedding / social markets as well as Corporate Events.
Education & Experience:
- At least 5+ years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field; or a 4-year college degree and at least 3+ years of related experience; or a 2-year college degree and 5 or more years of related experience.
- Must have knowledge of F&B preparation techniques, health department rules and regulations, liquor laws and regulations.
Must be proficient in Windows 95, Company approved spreadsheets and word processing
- Long hours sometimes required, weekends and holidays required.
Medium work- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects

Safety and Loss Prevention Officer
Our Safety Officers provide protection for hotel guests, hotel employees, and hotel property. They also provide guests with a sense of comfort and well being by maintaining a level of visibility. With a historic property built in 1922 and a dedication to providing the highest level of guest service excellence, our Safety and Loss Prevention team plays a vital role in our operations. Shifts required nights 3pm - 11pm, 11pm - 7am and weekends as well as holidays.
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the property and guest rooms of the hotel are maintained in the best possible condition, with the least inconvenience to guests. The Engineer is expected to perform routine maintenance and mechanical repair duties, including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, boilers and carpentry.
Director of Engineering
The Director of Engineering is responsible for all administrative, financial and operating aspects of the hotel as they directly relate to the Engineering Department. Provides a high level of property maintenance knowledge as well as project management knowledge as it relates to major/minor renovations. This position has overall responsibility for maintaining the building, and overseeing renovation projects. Accountable for managing the budget, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance and energy conservation. Develops and implements strategies that well deliver products and services, which meet or exceed the needs and expectations of guests and employees while maximizing the financial performance. Responsible for maintaining standards and regulatory requirements.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED; 6 years experience in the engineering and maintenance area with a concentration in renovation management, technical training in HVAC/Electrical/Plumbing.
- 2 year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related major; 4 years experience in the engineering and maintenance or related professional area; project management experience; technical training in HVAC/Electrical/Plumbing.
